Background

Brendan was born in Woodland Hills, CA and currently lives near Salem, OR. His parents thought he was a prodigy when he could read before age two, but it turns out he had just memorized books as they read to him. His real love of reading started soon after. He soon obsessed, at far too young an age, with the works of J. K. Rowling, J. R. R. Tolkien, Orson Scott Card, Ray Bradbury, Edgar Allen Poe, Frank Herbert, K. A. Applegate, Lemony Snicket, and so many others. He always admired story tellers, never much of a talker himself, but Brendan slowly slipped out of love with reading as years passed. By his 4th year of undergrad he had completely fallen out of the habit. One of his professors, Dr. Kara Moore, said he was talented but had no follow through. This rang true, so he decided to start and finish something he previously told himself he would do. Averted Vision, his unpublished first novel, started a week later and now has over a dozen rewrites as Brendan teaches himself to write. He has absolutely loved every letter of the journey so far.

Writings

The hallmark of Brendan’s work that it’s always something a bit different. He will write in any genre and with any tone, but always with an eye towards the unique. Additionally, each new project he takes on is designed to challenge his conventions and comforts with writing. This encourages him to improve and adapt to the challenges of each story and improve as a writer overall.

Other Interests

Brendan is an avid gamer, even dabbling in game design when the fancy strikes him. More on that soon! He volunteers much of his time as well, including with Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times and Global Health Promise. He currently works as an Epidemiologist where he is a part of the COVID response team. When not writing, Brendan spends his time with his wife and pets.
